The Sales Funnel For Effective Online Marketing

Apr 26

The sales funnel is an essential element of traditional marketing and business for ages. I've observed that funnels for Internet business are becoming increasingly popular.

Truth is, people are eager to know more about this marketing strategy and the best way to implement it to their online marketing campaigns. Read on to find out more about the sales funnel and how it can be used to effective Internet marketing.

The Sales Funnel: What is it?

No, a marketing funnel isn't a real funnel. The reason for using the term "funnel" for this marketing concept is simply to aid in visualizing and explaining a sales process from the beginning to the end. The funnel is a clear comparison because it allows potential customers to "Unqualified prospects" at the top and more narrow opportunities for sales conversions at the bottom.

The "unqualified prospects", also called people who are not competent are at the top of the funnel. These are people who may need your product or service but have never been approached prior to. After many phone calls, sales and promotions later, you have reached customers who have purchased your products or services.

A lead generation funnel's effectiveness is due to its ability to track the actions of your prospects at various stages of the sales process. The sales funnel allows you to predict the number of potential customers that will ultimately be customers by determining the qualified prospects at each step.

A sales funnel will help you see the areas where your sales strategy fails or succeeds, or whether your campaign isn't attracting enough customers. This information helps you choose the best place to focus your effort to make sure that sales are on the right level and that you are meeting your the marketing objectives. It is used to monitor and manage the sales process of customers.

The Front- End or the Sales Funnel The top

Your sales funnel's top is your most active and most important area in your sales process. It is constantly tested. There are virtually no limits to your creativity or resources in front-end strategies.

The primary purpose of the front end will be to pull potential customers in and turn them into buyers later in the sales funnel.

Once a prospective client opts-in to your offer, they become "qualified". This is the moment when the prospective customer or "Unqualified Lead" is qualified. This is because they have taken an action that indicates that they might be interested in buying your products or services.

To make your front-end effective, you need to direct targeted traffic to your website, blog, squeeze page, or blog. PPC advertisements, article marketing, banners, PPC advertisements, social media (Google+ Twitter Facebook YouTube), YouTube banners, blog posting forums, and many other sources are among the most effective techniques and resources.

There are many methods to "qualify" an "unqualified potential customer. One of the more efficient methods is to use a squeeze page where you can offer something of value relevant to your product or service which people can receive for free or drastically reduced price in exchange for their name and email. The items offered range from video and newsletters to ebooks, e-mail courses, related reports and more.

This shows that people are attracted to your sales channel on the front end. What about the back end?

The Bottom or Back-End of The Funnel

The bottom or back-end of your sales funnel is the place where most profits and sales are generated. It typically contains your highest priced products. They are usually pertinent to the same market, but in different formats such as video or audio, live interaction, or private consultation.

The main difference concerning the front end and back-end lies in the type of customer as well as the price of the service or product which is offered.

It's true that only a small percent, say 1-2%, from the overall number of folks who enter your front end will finish up in the back-end. This is fine, given the fact that this select few will be investing more money.

It's clear that while front-end products or services are priced below $100, back-end products and/or services are often priced in the 100s to 1000s. This means that the bottom of the sales channel, which is also called the back-end is the primary source of income.

As I mentioned, the sales funnel may be as simple or as complicated as your creativity or resources allow.
